| Well
this years Costa Brava Pro Am once again has been a big success
and a great time has been had by all. We have welcomed a few
new teams to the event and delighted to welcome back some
of our regular guests as well. It has been interesting hearing
the views of the new comers especially the pros like Gary
Donnison a quality professional from the north region who
says has already told some of his other pro mates to come
next year due to the excellent courses!

The Weather
Well considering what happened 3 years ago our last two Pro
Ams have now enjoyed good weather. Starting at PGA on Monday
we had overcast, but mild 70 weather, a 10 minute burst of
sprinkle showers but apart from that it was good golfing weather.
Tuesday at Emporda the weather was mild and bright 70. Wednesday
the day started black skies and light rain and the forecast
was thunderstorms but thankfully the skies cleared and by
10am the day turned out overcast and mild 70. Thursday back
to Emporda the skies were clear blue all day with a strongish
wind and mild 75, a very pleasant day! Our final day at PGA
was glorious best of the week! Warm and Sunny 77.

The Courses
I think this year is the best condition we have ever
had the golf courses for the Pro Am and it the first time
that we have been able to play the championship course at
PGA for the final day of the tournament ….which we believe
is fitting to be able to test our competitors around one of
Europe’s finest golf courses! A big thank you and well
done to the courses for producing such well turned out courses

The Event
The golf was a close run thing all week in both the
team and pro event. It concluded to an exciting finale seeing
on the team event with Brian Rimmers teams shooting in the
80 points each day take the event. The pro event was equally
fantastic with a new winner David Hutton 8- under par three
shots clear of the defencing champion David Shacklady. Well
done to both parties for their brave and skilled golf and
look forward to seeing them next year to defend their titles.
The Competition
As always the week kicks off with a fun practice day individual
stableford. Tragically two years ago we lost one of our contestants
Andrew Winter who was part of Gary Lister's team
from Aberdeen. In memory of Andrew we now
commemorate this first day to him playing for the Andrew
Winter Memorial Trophy, which was won for the first time
by an Amateur Mr G Martin with a magnificent 40 points…
well done… you seemed to be enjoying yourself at the
Gala Dinner… ha ha!.
I would like to thank all the people involved
in helping make this years event a success, the green and
admin staff at all the golf courses and our hotels for looking
after us all so well.
Well that wraps up another year and I look forward to seeing
you all again next year for the 2008 Costa Brava Pro Am. Already
we have made some exciting improvments for next year which
we will inform everyone when we annouce it
