North east of Fiqueres lies Peralada, a very old village with several noteworthy buildings. Foremost among them is the stunningly beautiful 14th century Castell de Peralada and vineyards. Here you can visit the wine museum and taste the varied vintages. Inside the castle is one of only three casinos in all of Catalonia, and a restaurant that serves food of the very highest quality. In the summer months the castle celebrates a famous International Music festival outside in the gardens.
