Catalonia
is in the north east corner of Spain. Five hundred kilometres of
coastline stretch past the three main cities of Gerona
in the Costa Brava,
the Catalan capital Barcelona
and Tarragona
in the Costa Dorada.
Catalonia
is quintessentially Spanish, but with a unique regional
feel. Restaurant menus are printed in two languages: Catalan
(indicated by its red and yellow horizontal striped national flag)
and Spanish.
Catalans are proud, industrious and resourceful
people. Their national flag flies from rooftops in nearly every
village or town. This is Spain’s wealthiest region
and an estimated 30% of the best restaurants in all of Spain
can be found here. It’s said that the Catalan people
enjoy some of the highest standards of living in Europe.
The locals will even try to convince you that they have Europe's
best football team: FC
Barcelona (although Real Madrid may have
something to say about that!).

Unlike many places in Spain and elsewhere,
Catalonia
is no purpose-built, manufactured golf tourist destination. The
place is steeped in tradition and culture, an identity established
over hundreds of years. Golf is a new addition, which has opened
up this remarkable place for golfers to come and really discover
Catalonia
for the very first time.
